Children’s Stage play – Kindergarten

Who are you Sue, Snue? - By Dr.Seuss – Adapted for Stage Play

Pre requisites

Characters:

Father, Mother, Sue Snue, Bocks, Docks, Dutter, Crummer, Astronaut, Farmer, Baker, Icecream cone maker

General Props:

8 Chairs, Table, Decoration, Fake Cake, Cutting Knife

Confetti, Socks stuffed toys, A cake gift, A drum, Rocket toy, Farm Set, Cookie Box, Stuffed toy.

Other Props:

Socks, Knife, Drum Sticks, Star, Spade, Buns, Cones

Introduction Part

Narrator:

LOOK! That's the birthday girl. She looks pretty. Her name is Susan Bocks Dutter Docks Crummer Snue, pretty long name.

And look, who is coming, its Uncle Bocks and Uncle Docks, the socks makers.

Sue: A socks full of gifts, thanks you Uncle Bocks and Uncle Docks.

Ooh! That's Uncle Dutter, he looks delicious for a cake cutter. I am going to eat his hat off.

Sue: A
delicious
birthday cake just for me, thank you Uncle Dutter.

I guess everyone will know what Uncle Crummer does. Yes, he is a drummer.

Sue: Thank you Uncle Crummer for the drum.

Wow! I guess there are new friends coming for the party. An astronaut, well I guess he has just finished his space mission

Sue: Mr. Astronaut what is this gift?

Mr. Astronaut: This is a telescope Sue, check out the stars in the sky.

Look at the cowboy man! He has straws all over his hat. Is that a bird nested on his hat? I am damn sure he is a farmer.

Sue: A gardening set. Thank you Mr Farmer.

Pat a cake, Pat a cake - baker's man bake me a cake – A baker

Sue: A box full of cookies. Thank you Mr. Baker.

This one is a little hard, there are three scoops of icecream dripping out of the cone. What does she do ? Ooh,

That's what she is – "An ice cream cone maker".

Sue: A cuddly teddy bear, Thank you Ms.

Now that all the guests have come let's start the party.

Cake Cutting Part

Father: "Happy Birthday Snue dear."(Father hugs Snue)

Mother: "Happy Birthday Snue dear."(Mother hugs Snue)

Narrator: Yes
you, Sue Snue. Happy Birthday to you – Ms Susan Bocks Dutter Docks Crummer Snue!

ALL:

We wish you a happ, happ, happy birthday

Happ, Happ, Happy Birthday for you

May you live to be a hundred and three

We wish you a happ, happ, happy birthday

Choose Part

Father:

(Father: shows snue all the guest

Guest: nod their heads towards Snue)

Sue, Its time for you

To choose something to do

Narrator:

Ooh oh! Snue, its time you know

what your uncles and friends do

And, choose the best for you


 

Sue:

What do they do daddy? 

Uncle Bocks and Docks part

Father and Mother to Uncle Bocks and Docks: Ask Sue Snue, if she wants to be like you


 

Bocks and Docks fight scene


 

Uncle Bocks:

Will you, like Uncle Bocks

Make left-footed red socks?

Uncle Docks:

Will you, like Uncle Docks

Make right-footed green socks?


 

Uncle Bocks:

Red Socks, Red Socks, Red Socks, Red

Uncle Docks:

Uncle Bocks:

Left Foot, Left Foot, Left Foot, Left

Uncle Docks:

Uncle Bocks:

No Sue, Red Socks

Uncle Docks:

No Sue, Green Socks


 

Narrator:

Red socks? Green socks?

Yellow or blue?

Susan Bocks, Dutter Docks,

What will you do?


 

Father:

Is that good for you Sue?


 

Sue:

That was fun and I like to play with them

But, I don't want to be like them. 

Father: Ask Sue Snue,

if she wants to be like you


 

Uncle Dutter:

Or like Uncle Dutter,

Will you be a cake-cutter? (touches his hat with two hands)


 

Sue: Uncle Dutter, Shall we play cut the cake?


 

Uncle Dutter:

Cut the cake Cut the cake

Cut the cake in little slices

with some cream and cherry

Put them in a plate, Just for me (2)

Narrator:

Uncle Dutter cuts cake, Sue.

Is that good for you, too-

Father:

What do say Snue?


 

Sue:

That was fun and I like to play with him

But, I don't want to be like him. 

Father: Ask Sue Snue,

if she wants to be like you


 

Uncle Crummer:

Or will you be a drummer, (touches his hat with two hands)

Like your Uncle Crummer?


 

Sue: Uncle Crummer, How do you play your drum?


 

Uncle Crummer:

I played my drum for them, pa-rum pum pum pum

I played my best for them, sue: pa-rum pum pum pum

Then they smiled at me, sue: pa-rum pum pum pum (3)

Me and my drum, sue: pa-rum pum pum pum


 

Narrator:

Uncle Crummer drums

He has the metals clinging

And he keeps on zum zumming


 

Father:

What do say Sue?


 

Sue:

That was fun and I like to play with him

But, I don't want to be like him.  

Father:

Or will you, dear Snue,

Do something all new?

Narrator:

Yes sue something new

Like none in our family

Sue:

New, what new can I be? 

Father to Astronaut: Ask Sue Snue,

if she wants to be like you.


 

Astronaut:

Will you be an astronaut? (touches his hat with two hands)

Soaring through space. (make a flying action in the sky)


 

Sue:

Mr. Astronaut have you seen the little star?


 

Astronaut:

Twinkle, twinkle, little star,

I know, how big, they really are

Up above the world so high

Like a giant glow ball in the sky


 

Father:

What do say Snue?


 

Sue:

That was fun and I like to play with him

But, I don't want to be like him. 

Mother to Farmer: Ask Sue Snue,

if she wants to be like you


 

Farmer:

Or will you be a farmer? (touches his hat with two hands)

Growing lots of maize. (make hand movements like plant growing up fast)


 

Sue:

Mr. Farmer, how can we play farmer?


 

Old McDonald had a farm yea ah yea ah yo

Sue: Yea ah yea ah yo

On that farm he had some ground yea ah yea ah yo

Sue: Yea ah yea ah yo

A plough plough here and a plough plough there

Here a plough, there a plough

Every where a plough, plough

Old McDonald had a farm yea ah yea ah yo

Sue: Yea ah yea ah yo


 

Father:

What do say Snue?


 

Sue:

That was fun and I like to play with him

But, I don't want to be like him. 

Father: Ask Sue Snue,

if she wants to be like you


 

Baker:

Will you bake delicious cakes, Like a baker?


 

Sue: Mr. Baker, what do you do with your buns?


 

Like this,

Hot cross buns, Hot cross buns

One a penny, two a penny Hot cross buns

If you have no daughters

Give them to your sons.

Father:

Sue:

That was fun and I like to play with him

Ice cream cone maker:

Or will you, Sue Snue, Be an ice cream cone maker?


 

Sue: Ms, How do you sell your icecream?


 

One little, two little, three little icecream cones

All the girls like icecream cones

All the boys like icecream cones

Kids like icecream cones


 

Father:

What do say Snue?


 

Sue:

That was fun and I like to play with her

But, I don't want to be like her.

Father:

A bullfighter? A skywriter?

A canner of peas? A trainer of fleas?

What is that you want to be?


 

Narrator:

Crummer Snue: What is it,

That you want to be


 

All say:

Who are you Sue Snue,

Sue Snue:

STOP EVERYBODY STOP!!!

I wonder why Oh Why

You all ask this to me

I want to be myself

I am small girl and only 6 years old

I love to jump, I love to play

I love to sing and dance

I love to be happy

All through the day…

Sue Snue:

C'mon now, Let's Dance.
